An AI agent for partnership managers: open referral and channel conversations

A partnership manager's first job is to start many conversations with companies that already serve the same customers. Sellinger ships three partnership goals, a Partnerships and Referrals rule pack and a partnership persona. In a studied referral network, 9,808 professionals were messaged on LinkedIn, 44.8% replied (quick replies included) and 95 calls were booked and corroborated.

Who has this job

Partnership and alliance managers at software firms, heads of channel who recruit resellers and referral partners, and founders who grow through introducers. The first step is always to find people who already serve your ideal customer and ask if sending business both ways makes sense.

How Sellinger runs it

  1. 1

    Goal

    Referral partners

"Build relationships with referral partners who already serve your ideal customers, and book a call to explore sending business both ways."

  2. 2

    Goal

    Gauge openness

"Gauge openness to a referral, co-selling, or white-label arrangement, and secure a brief ten-minute conversation to agree next steps."

  3. 3

    Goal

    Vendor onboarding

"Open vendor onboarding conversations with the people who control procurement. The goal is becoming an approved vendor, not an immediate sale."

    Hand terms to a person

The rule pack marks collaboration terms, referral fees and revenue share as needs attention.

The Partnerships and Referrals rule pack includes advisors and service providers who already serve your target customers and people with an engaged network in your niche. It excludes direct competitors and job seekers, and it routes anyone who mentions a mutual connection to a person. The partnership persona is written to state the value to the partner first and to be specific about the proposed model.

One result, with its limits

The referral network study used a peer opener with no pitch and no link, a question about the prospect's clients and a nudge after the booking link. 9,264 were written to first, 3,119 (33.7%) replied with more than a pleasantry and 1,035 of 1,751 thank you replies turned into real conversations. The study ran across 26 LinkedIn profiles and the audience was financial advisors, not software firms. Read the playbook and the case study.

Common questions

Does it negotiate terms?
No. Referral fees, revenue share and collaboration terms stop the agent and go to you.
Can I recruit white label partners with it?
The goal "Gauge openness to a referral, co-selling, or white-label arrangement" is written for it. Sellinger's own partner terms are on the [partners page](/partners).
