Outreach rules
What Sellinger enforces on every message
Outreach rules differ by country, by channel and by who you write to. This page does not summarize the law. It lists what the product itself enforces, so you can see where its protection ends and your own duties begin.
Each row describes behavior we checked in the product code on 19 October 2026.

The rules, one by one
| Rule | What the product does | Scope and defaults |
|---|---|---|
| Opt outs | When a contact replies with an opt out such as STOP or unsubscribe, in English, Bulgarian or German among other forms, the contact goes on the team's suppression list, the agent stops and the lead is closed out. A weak or unclear phrase never writes the permanent record: the agent stops and a person decides. | Applies to replies on every channel the agent answers. The record is permanent and covers the whole team. |
| Suppression list | Before every send on email, LinkedIn and WhatsApp, the platform checks the team's suppression list and refuses the send when the contact is on it or when the check cannot be completed. | One list per team. A failed check blocks the send. Approved drafts pass the same check before they go out. |
| Unsubscribe link in cold email | Cold email can carry an unsubscribe line and the standard one click unsubscribe headers (List-Unsubscribe and List-Unsubscribe-Post). It is a per mailbox setting. | A per mailbox setting. It is off by default, so switch it on for the mailboxes that send cold email where the law asks for it. |
| Daily limits | Every connected account has daily limits that the agent cannot exceed. LinkedIn defaults to 20 invitations a day, varied by a few from day to day, and 150 invitations a week. Email defaults to 50 sends a day per mailbox. | Defaults set in code. An account can carry its own value. Email has an optional ramp up that starts at 5 a day and doubles every 3 days up to the limit. WhatsApp runs at a small daily volume, set per account. |
| Quiet hours | Sending follows a schedule you set (days, hours and time zone). When no schedule is set, a quiet window of 01:00 to 08:00 local time applies. | You choose the days, hours and time zone for each account. |
| Approval mode | A campaign can run in approval mode, where every message waits for a person to approve it, or send automatically. | You choose the mode. An approved message is checked against the suppression list again before it sends, and a failed check blocks it. |
| Hand over to a person | A person can take over any conversation. The agent also stops and hands over when it cannot answer, for example when an inquiry needs a price it does not have. The lead moves to needs attention, the account gets a notification and an internal email goes to the sales mailbox. | An opt out and an unclear opt out phrase also stop the agent and hand over to a person. |
| Machine mail | Automatic replies from helpdesks, no reply senders, satisfaction surveys and empty messages are marked as machine mail. They never count as a human reply, the agent does not answer them, and the lead is sent to a person with a named reason. | Applies to inbound email and chat. A short reply from a person, such as a thank you, still counts as a reply. |
What is left to you
The product helps you follow the rules. It does not check whether your campaign is lawful. You are responsible for who you contact and why, for any consent the law requires, for honoring opt outs you receive outside Sellinger, and for following the rules of each platform you connect. Those duties are set out in the Terms of Service, section 9.
Automation can break a platform's own rules. LinkedIn and other platforms may limit or restrict an account, and no setting removes that risk. See security and the LinkedIn safety facts.
