Before you start
- A rule is a guardrail about who the campaign engages and when it stops. A goal is the outcome. A persona is the tone and role.
- Write rules as one plain sentence about the lead or the reply, for example: Lead asks to speak with a human.
Steps
- 1
Step 1
Open the drawer
Go to Agents, open the campaign and choose the Rules tab.
- 2
Step 2
Pick the group
Needs Attention / Human Review: if a condition is met, automation halts and the lead is flagged for a person. Inclusion Rules: the agent only interacts with matching profiles and marks others irrelevant. Exclusion Rules: the agent skips or marks irrelevant any matching profile.
- 3
Step 3
Add a rule
Click Add and type the rule. Placeholders show the style, such as a VP of Sales at a B2B company or a student or competitor.
- 4
Step 4
Or use a template
Click Templates to open the picker. It holds about 130 rules in 13 groups, among them Human Review and Escalation, Competitors and Vendors, Decision Makers and Titles, Buying Signals and Inbound Handling. There are also 8 rule packs, such as B2B SDR / Book Meetings and Inbound Lead Handling.
- 5
Step 5
Save
Save. A message says the rules were saved.
What happens next
From the next conversation, the agent checks each lead and reply against the rules. Matches in Needs Attention stop the agent and flag the lead.
Good to know
- Campaign rules apply across every account in the campaign. Each channel account also has its own rules tab for that account alone.
- Keep rules short and specific. Two rules that say the same thing in different words do not help.
- Test a new rule with a reply of your own and check that the lead is flagged.
- See the full text of two packs on the B2B SDR rule pack and inbound lead handling pages.
