What is a sales pipeline?
A sales pipeline is the view of every opportunity by stage, from first contact to won or lost. It shows how many deals are in each step, how long they stay and where they drop out, so you can predict revenue and fix the step that leaks.

What are typical stages?
- New: a lead has entered the pipeline.
- Contacted: a first message was sent.
- Engaged: the person replied.
- Meeting: a call is booked.
- Won or lost: the outcome.
Which numbers matter?
| Number | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Conversion between stages | Where deals drop out |
| Time in stage | Where deals stall |
| Count and value per stage | What you can expect to close |
Value is only meaningful if your stages are honest. A meeting booked is not a deal.
What goes wrong?
Stages that mean different things to different people. A lead moved to Meeting before a time was booked. Dead deals that stay in the pipeline and inflate it. Define each stage by what happened, not by what you hope.
How Sellinger handles it
Every lead has a pipeline stage and a status, such as new, invite sent, responded, meeting booked or converted. Stages move from what the lead does, and you can set your own stages in the settings. Meetings are counted when the slot is booked, with a separate count for meetings held and no shows.
