What is the LinkedIn Social Selling Index (SSI)?

The Social Selling Index, or SSI, is a score from 0 to 100 that LinkedIn gives to measure how effectively a person uses LinkedIn for selling. LinkedIn describes it as reflecting how well you establish a professional brand, find the right prospects, engage with insights and build relationships. You can see your own score on LinkedIn's SSI page.

Where do you see your score?

LinkedIn links to the score at linkedin.com/sales/ssi from its Social Selling Index page. The score compares you with people in your industry and network.

Does SSI matter for outreach?

As a rough health check of your profile and activity, yes. As a goal, no. A higher score does not book meetings on its own, and chasing the number can turn into activity for its own sake. What it reflects is useful: a profile people trust, a list of relevant people and conversations that go somewhere. The LinkedIn profile checklist for outbound covers the profile part.

How Sellinger handles it

Sellinger does not calculate or report SSI. It runs outreach from your own profile within account limits: you connect your own LinkedIn account through a hosted login and Sellinger does not store your LinkedIn password. Each account has a daily invitation limit (default 20, varied by a few each day), a weekly invitation cap (default 150) and a quiet window with no sending (default 01:00 to 08:00 account time). No tool can guarantee that LinkedIn will never restrict an account.

Common questions

What is a good SSI score?
LinkedIn does not publish a target. Compare your score with your own past and with peers in your industry.
Does SSI affect how many invitations I can send?
LinkedIn does not say so on its SSI page. Do not assume a link between the score and limits.
How do I raise my SSI?
LinkedIn's description points to a complete profile, relevant connections, engagement with content and real relationships.
