What is connection acceptance rate?

Connection acceptance rate is the share of LinkedIn connection invitations that the other person accepts. Divide accepted invitations by invitations sent, and multiply by 100. It is the first number to check in a LinkedIn campaign, since a message only goes to people who accepted.

What is the formula?

Acceptance rate = invitations accepted ÷ invitations sent × 100.

Worked example (made up numbers)
Invitations sent in a week100
Accepted38
Still pending50
Acceptance rate38%

Example: 38 ÷ 100 = 38 percent. Judge it after about two weeks, since pending invitations can still be accepted.

Count each person once. If you withdraw and send a second invitation to the same person, report the person, not the two invitations, or the rate will look lower than it is.

What moves it?

Who you invite, and whether the invitation gives a reason to accept. A person who has not heard of you, in a role unrelated to your offer, rarely accepts. Send fewer, better matched invitations before you add volume.

How Sellinger handles it

The measured figure on this site is about 4 in 10 invitations accepted (39% across 42 customer teams, last 90 days to 19 Sep 2026). It counts per lead, with internal and test teams excluded. It is a measure across many teams, not a forecast for yours.

Sending is limited per account. The defaults are 20 invitations a day, varied by a few each day, and 150 a week, with a quiet window of 01:00 to 08:00 account time. At the weekly cap and a 39 percent rate, one account would collect about 58 acceptances a week: 150 × 0.39. Leads move through statuses such as pending connection, connection accepted and ignored invite, so you can see where each stands. See LinkedIn outreach and reply rate.

Common questions

What is a good acceptance rate on LinkedIn?
Across 42 customer teams we measured 39 percent over 90 days. Your result depends on your list.
Does a note raise acceptance?
It depends on the audience. Test a no note invite against a specific opener, as in our playbook.
Why do some invitations stay pending?
People do not open LinkedIn every day. Wait about two weeks before you judge a batch.
