What is LinkedIn jail, and what is a restricted account?
LinkedIn jail is the informal name for a restriction on a LinkedIn account. LinkedIn limits what the account can do, such as sending invitations, until the owner confirms their identity or waits it out. It is usually triggered by too many requests, too many ignored requests or automation that looks unnatural.

What triggers a restriction?
- Sending far more invitations than the account normally does.
- Many invitations ignored or marked as "I don't know this person".
- Activity at hours or speeds no person would keep.
- Logging in from places or devices that suddenly change.
What does a restriction look like?
The mildest form is a warning that you have reached a limit. A stronger one blocks new invitations for a period. The most serious asks for identity verification or removes access until LinkedIn reviews the account. The wording and the length change, and LinkedIn does not publish the rules.
What should you do if it happens?
- Stop automated sending on that account straight away.
- Follow the steps LinkedIn shows, such as identity verification.
- Restart at a low volume and raise it slowly.
- Review the list: a bad audience produces ignored requests.
How Sellinger handles it
You connect your own LinkedIn account through a hosted login and Sellinger does not store your LinkedIn password. Each account has a daily invitation limit (default 20, varied by a few each day), a weekly invitation cap (default 150) and a quiet window with no sending (default 01:00 to 08:00 account time). No tool can guarantee that LinkedIn will never restrict an account. If the connection to LinkedIn drops, the channel shows that the account needs a reconnect, and you can sign in again from the Channels page. You may also connect through your own proxy.
Sellinger does not make a restriction impossible, and no tool does. It helps you stay under the limits, which you can read in the help article on limits, and the blog post on restricted accounts covers what to do next.
