How to import leads from a CSV file

Open Add Leads, choose CSV, and the import runs in three steps: upload, map columns, confirm. Each row needs at least an email, a LinkedIn URL or a phone number, and files up to 50MB are accepted.

Before you start

  • A CSV file with one lead per row and at least an email, a LinkedIn URL or a phone number in each row.
  • A campaign ready to receive the leads, so they are contacted once imported.
  • Any extra columns you want to keep, such as a custom field, ready to map.

Steps

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Open the CSV importer

Click Add Leads in the sidebar, then the CSV tab.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Upload your file

Drag the file in or click to choose it. One lead per row. A file that is only a list of LinkedIn URLs, with no header row, also works.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Map the columns

Match your CSV columns to Sellinger fields. At least one of Email, LinkedIn URL or Phone is required. Extra columns can be mapped to your team's custom fields. The first 5 rows are previewed as they will import.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Review the summary

Check the number of leads, mapped fields and any duplicate rows inside the file. You can switch on Skip automatic relevance check so leads are not auto marked Irrelevant before outreach.

  5. 5

    Step 5

Choose where they go and import

Optionally name the import and the segment, pick the destination, then click Import. The import report lists duplicates and failed rows, and you can retry failed rows.

What happens next

The leads appear in your CRM under the segment you chose, and the agent works them within your daily limits. The import report stays available for the latest runs on the CSV tab.

Good to know

  • Files over 50MB are rejected. Split large lists into several files.
  • Leads already in your pipeline are skipped as duplicates and counted in the result.
  • If a file is not UTF-8 or has garbled characters, Sellinger repairs the encoding so names and LinkedIn URLs import correctly.
  • Every lead needs an agent to be contacted. Choosing the destination attaches the leads to the right campaign.
  • Names and details in a file should only be those you have a lawful basis to contact. See outreach rules.

Common questions

What is the minimum my file needs?
At least one of email, LinkedIn URL or phone per row.
What happens to duplicates?
Duplicate rows inside the file are flagged, and leads that already exist in your pipeline are skipped and counted.
Can I see what failed?
Yes. Open the import report for the run, review row level errors and retry the failed rows.
