LinkedIn engagement: warm up a prospect before the connection request
Engagement is a setting on the LinkedIn agent. Before it invites a lead, it can like up to five of the person's recent posts and, if you choose, comment on one. Separately it can comment on posts about topics you list, up to a daily limit. It is off until you switch it on for the account.

- default likes before an invitation. Range 0 to 5
- 2
- default topic comments a day. Maximum 10
- 3
- pause if LinkedIn refuses the feature three times in a row
- 24 hours
The two modes
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Engagement, master switch | Off | Turns the whole feature on for the account |
| Before the invite | On, once engagement is on | Likes recent posts of a lead who is queued for an invitation |
| Likes before the invite | 2 | Zero to five |
| Comment before the invite | Off | An AI written comment on a recent post, following your comment directions |
| Topic comments a day | 3 | Comments on posts that match your topics, zero to ten |
| Topics and comment directions | Empty | What to comment on and how it should sound |
| Delay between actions | 60 seconds | Ten to 600 seconds |
The topic scan runs about every 30 minutes. It looks through the LinkedIn feed for posts that match your keywords and records each match as an intent signal. Comments are posted where comment settings allow, within the daily limit. It can also create leads from the authors of matching posts.
Limits and what it does not claim
- Only leads assigned to an active agent are warmed up, from the account that will send the invitation.
- When LinkedIn refuses the feature for an account three times in a row, engagement pauses for 24 hours rather than keep trying.
- Liking and commenting are automated activity on LinkedIn, like the rest of the agent. No tool can promise LinkedIn will never restrict an account.
- Engagement before an invitation is not an account warm up. Sellinger has no logic that ramps up a new LinkedIn account.
Sellinger has no published campaign that isolates engagement, so no acceptance or reply gain is claimed. Compare your own accepted rate with and without it in the rate calculator.
