Sellinger vs Clay (2026): list building or the conversation after it
The short answer
Clay is where you build and enrich lead lists from many data providers and trigger workflows, from $185 a month on monthly billing, and it hands the sending to other tools. Sellinger starts where a list ends: it writes to each person, answers and books, from $198 per LinkedIn agent a month. If your problem is finding and qualifying the right accounts, Clay fits; if you already have the list and need the outreach and replies handled, Sellinger does.
Clay.com is a data and workflow platform that combines lead search, enrichment from a marketplace of providers and AI research in one table. Sellinger is an outreach agent that contacts the people on a list and carries each conversation to a booked meeting.

Who should choose which
Choose Clay if
- you need to build a precise account list from many sources and enrich it with data from a marketplace of providers.
- you want workflows that fire on signals such as a job change, with the output going to a CRM or a sending tool you already use.
- your team is technical and likes working in tables, with an API and webhooks on Growth.
- you want a permanent Free plan to test small jobs before paying.
Choose Sellinger if
- you want one tool that contacts the people and handles what they answer, instead of a data tool plus a sender plus an inbox.
- you want LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Instagram and live chat outreach, which are not listed as sent by Clay itself on the pages checked.
- you want a CRM inside the tool, with a two way HubSpot sync, and a database of 700M+ contacts you can search.
- you prefer a flat price per agent over actions and data credits that you have to forecast.
What the two price meters mean in practice
Clay prices two meters. Actions are platform capacity that resets each cycle, and Data Credits buy data and AI work, starting at $0.05 each. Seats are unlimited. The plan price is a fee for the tiers you choose, so your bill depends on how many rows you enrich.
Sellinger prices a LinkedIn agent at a flat amount, and enrichment as a separate pay per lookup module from $0.01. The two are different jobs, so the table sets them side by side and does not rank them.
| Clay | Sellinger | |
|---|---|---|
| Entry paid plan | Launch $185 for 15,000 actions and 2,500 data credits | $198 for one LinkedIn agent |
| Mid plan | Growth $495 for 40,000 actions and 6,000 data credits | $890 for 5 LinkedIn agents (5 agents at $178) |
| Cost of a lookup | Data credits from $0.05 each | From $0.01 per enrichment lookup |
What happens after the list is built
Clay's own pages describe it as the layer beside your system of record. It enriches and decides, and a sending tool such as the Clay Sequencer for email, or HeyReach for LinkedIn, does the contact. When someone replies by email, Clay drafts a follow up and posts it in Slack for a rep.
In Sellinger the same agent writes the first message, follows up and answers the reply, then stops and hands over when it cannot answer. A list built in Clay can be uploaded to Sellinger as a CSV file.
LinkedIn is where the tools differ most
On the pages we checked Clay lists no LinkedIn sending, so it has no safety model to compare. It reads LinkedIn as a data source and passes leads on to a sender.
Sellinger sends on LinkedIn through your own account, connected by a hosted login with no password stored, and starts from defaults of 20 invitations a day and 150 a week. No tool can guarantee that LinkedIn will not restrict an account.
Switching between Clay and Sellinger
Clay and Sellinger are not usually a switch. Most teams would keep Clay for data and add Sellinger for outreach.
- Export the finished table from Clay as a CSV file, with the name, company and profile link of each person.
- Import the file in Sellinger and connect the LinkedIn account or inbox that will send.
- State the offer and review the first messages the agent drafts.
- Compare replies per hundred people contacted against your current sender before you shut anything down.
- If Clay's sequencer or a HeyReach hand off is running today, stop it for the people you import, so nobody is contacted twice.
- Clay's actions reset each billing cycle and do not roll over, so time any downgrade to the start of a cycle.
