LinkedIn connection note character counter
Paste your note and see characters, words and characters left against the limit you set. LinkedIn limits the length of a connection note, and sources disagree on the number for different account types, so you set the limit your account shows. Presets for 200 and 300 are provided. The count runs in your browser.

Counting is done in your browser. Emoji and accented letters count as one character each here. Check the count in LinkedIn if you sit close to the limit.
How it counts, and why you set the limit
- Characters are counted as visible characters, so an emoji or an accented letter counts as one. LinkedIn may count some characters differently, so check in LinkedIn when you are within a few characters of the limit.
- The limit is yours to set. The sources we read give 200 characters for free accounts and 300 for Premium, or 300 for everyone with a monthly note quota. We did not retrieve a LinkedIn Help page that settles it, so the tool does not assert one number.
- Words are groups of characters separated by spaces.
Writing a note that fits
In a real campaign most requests carried no note: at Lamothermic only 149 of 3,345 connection requests had one, and 27% were accepted. At ShortVibe 2,150 of 2,276 requests carried a note written by the agent. Neither study compares notes with no notes, so do not read either as proof. See the no note invite playbook and the connect, ask one question playbook.
If you use Sellinger, the agent writes the note or sends the invite without one, and the setting is per account. InMail, the other first touch, is a separate tool with its own limits: see the InMail product page.
The tool runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to Sellinger or stored, so it needs no account, has no rate limit and costs nothing to run.
