Template: a follow up for an unanswered survey
A survey follow up repeats the questions in the email itself, so nobody has to find the first message. In the Shelly Group installer programme, 76% of replies came only because of a follow up, and the full sequence reached a 13.6% reply rate against 3.3% for the first email alone. The base was an existing partner network.

The text
Hello [first name], A short reminder in case my first email got buried. The questions are below, so you can answer straight in a reply. 1. [Question one] 2. [Question two] 3. [Question three] 4. [Question four] [Team name]
Why each line is there
| Line | Why it is there |
|---|---|
| "In case my first email got buried" | It gives a neutral reason for writing again. |
| The questions repeated in full | Seven installers asked for the questions again after a reminder dropped them. |
| "Answer straight in a reply" | Nothing to click. 172 of the 210 complete surveys came back in one message. |
What it measured
| Touch | Reply rate |

| First email | 3.3% (64 of 1,966) |
| Follow up 1 | 5.3% (100 of 1,902) |
| With all follow ups | 13.6% |
76% of replies came only because of a follow up. The study cap of two follow ups followed the only two stop complaints, at the fourth and fifth touch. See the Shelly Group case study.
When not to use it
- On a cold list. The base was registered partners, and there is no data for cold use.
- With more than two follow ups to a base you care about.
- When you will not read the answers. Someone has to.
