What is a product qualified lead (PQL)?
A product qualified lead, or PQL, is a person or account whose behaviour inside your product, usually a free trial or free plan, shows they are likely to buy: they invited teammates, hit a usage limit or used a paid feature. It is common in product led software companies, where the product does the first part of selling.

What signals make a PQL?
| Signal | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Invited several teammates | The tool is spreading inside the company |
| Reached a plan limit | They need more than the free tier |
| Used a feature tied to a paid plan | They are trying the value they would pay for |
| Came back often in the first week | The product is becoming a habit |
| Account matches the ideal customer profile | The company can afford the paid plan |
How should sales reach out to a PQL?
Like a helpful colleague, not like a seller who has been watching. Mention what they are trying to do, not the tracking data: "Teams setting up their first campaign often ask about X. Want me to show you?" Offer help with the next step in the product, and leave pricing for when they ask.
How are PQLs different from MQLs?
An MQL shows interest in content. A PQL shows use of the product, which is a much stronger signal of intent. That is why product led companies often route PQLs straight to sales and MQLs to nurture.
How Sellinger handles it
Sellinger itself offers a trial: 30 days free on messaging modules and bundles, no card. Usage modules (enrichment) start with a $10 credit. For your own product, you can add PQL users as leads through the REST API and assign them to a campaign; the API quickstart shows the calls. Sellinger offers a REST API with webhooks (from the Full Stack bundle up) and a hosted MCP connector with 43 tools for Claude and ChatGPT.
