What is multichannel outreach?

Multichannel outreach means contacting the same prospect on more than one channel, for example a LinkedIn invitation, then an email, then a WhatsApp message, as one planned sequence. The aim is to reach people where they actually reply, without writing to them three times at once.

How does a multichannel sequence run?

Sample sequence (illustration)
1LinkedInInvitation with a short note
6LinkedInMessage after accept, or wait
11LinkedInFollow up with one question
16EmailSwitch channel after silence
19EmailFinal short follow up

Example only. Gaps and channels are yours to set.

The rule is one conversation, not several. When someone answers on any channel the other channels stop, and the agent has the full history.

When is it worth it?

When your buyers use more than one channel and you have the contact data for each. It costs more setup and carries more compliance work, since each channel has its own rules. If you only have a LinkedIn profile, start there.

How Sellinger handles it

Each channel has a default number of follow ups and a channel to move to when it is used up: Default follow ups before a lead is treated as exhausted: LinkedIn 4, then email; email 5, then WhatsApp; WhatsApp 4, then email; Instagram 4, then email. Default gaps start at 5 days on LinkedIn, 1 to 3 days on email and WhatsApp. Every value can be changed per campaign.

Five channels feed one record: LinkedIn, email, WhatsApp, Instagram and live chat, and all conversations sit in one inbox. A suppression check runs before each send on email, LinkedIn and WhatsApp. See multichannel follow up sequences and cold email vs LinkedIn outreach.

Common questions

Is multichannel the same as omnichannel?
People use the words loosely. Multichannel is several channels in a sequence. Omnichannel stresses one shared history across them, which Sellinger keeps.
Does Sellinger message on every channel at once?
No. The default is to move to the next channel after follow ups on the first are used up.
Which channel should go first?
The one where you can reach the person and where your buyers reply. Test it on a small batch.
